I collaborated with the Highgate Wood woodkeeper to identify the problem of artificial lighting outside the cafe disturbing the bat’s roosting sites. We documented the site using sketching and collaging. We employed a multi-stage iteration process to refine the form of the shield to still provide the function of a security light whilst minimising light entering the wood.
